Seminole Improvement District’s automated meter reading system has been
experiencing some intermittent readings from the field. Therefore, the affected water
accounts received estimated bills for the past two months.
The estimated bills were calculated in one of two ways. The first way was based on an
average consumption for the past several months. The second way was to bill a flat
rate due to insufficient account history to provide an estimate of consumption.
The current billing was based on a physical read of the meter which shows the actual
consumption from the last electronic reading. The District manually read over 400
accounts in order to provide an accurate billing of the water consumed by each account.
The district is working with the meter supplier to correct the intermittent reading issue
and expects the issue to be corrected before the next billing cycle.
